About

Our group, ‘The Scottish Thirty-seven Group’, came into existence in 1997 formed by a handful of Scottish Railway Preservationists to buy and operate a Class 37 locomotive in Scotland.

Since then, in 2000, we purchased former Eastern and then Scottish Region celebrity, 37025. Based at the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway, over 7 years, we have stripped down, repaired and painstakingly restored 025 back into a serviceable status.

On 27 September 2007, 37025 complete in BR large logo blue livery worked its first train in over 8 years. Since then, ‘Inverness TMD’ has been a stalwart of Bo’ness diesel engine fleet with many appearances on passenger and freight trains on the railway. In June 2009, 37025 ventured to foreign metals and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. In October 2010, it was one of the exhibits at the National Railway Museum’s class 37 50th anniversary event.

Currently 37025 is out of traffic to be fitted with the equipment necessary for mainline running. A return to traffic and running on the mainline is expected to be in 2012.
